Subject: Changed CODE ION files
Dear BSW users:
Please be advised that we will start this week to generate CODE ION
files using
(a) new, refined mapping functions and
(b) a bigger number of ionospheric parameters to represent the TEC
distribution.
Concerning change (a), the software V4.2 will convert vertical into
slant ionospheric delay using the standard single-layer model (COSZ)
mapping function, specifically for all mapping function codes greater
than 0. (The new codes will be 2 and 3.) This is a reasonable
approximation. For users striving for highest consistency, we will
make available an updated version of the module GIMARG as soon as
possible.
Concerning change (b): In order to consider corresponding ION files,
the BSW V4.2 user has to increase the maximum dimension MAXGIT in
$I/I:MAXGIT and to re-compile the software (using the COMPLINK
command). Note that MAXGIT has to be greater than (n_max+1)**2, where
n_max is the maximum degree of the spherical harmonics expansion
(initially 12, eventually 15).
Best regards,
Stefan Schaer
